8 miles yesterday, a shlog run, gratuitous stops at the Basin restroom, water at 4, Gu at 6 (like I was going to finish the full 12), and finally surrender at 8. Hot, humid, and not feeling it.
Short run today, since I was heading to Westchester to see Kristina on the 9:37 train. Decided to do the hill on the north end. A few weeks ago I set off for that hill, making one loop and cutting off to the 102nd crossover. Today, got the up and back finished, feeling good for both loops. As I ran, I thought about things that I needed to work on to get back on track -
- Hydrate
- Mindful eating. Save the big meals for the night before a big run
- Stretch, even if it's for 5 minutes after the run
There are a half dozen other things that I need to do, but I need to take the changes in small bites. I'm in Chicago starting tomorrow, a reminder of thinner days and better runs.
