It's Chicago, It's Not Chicago

Quick, name that band. Anyway...north of Chicago in Northbrook working. I'm here for the next 16 weeks unless something breaks loose, but that's okay, at least I'll know what I'm doing and where I'll be for a while. I'm about 25 miles north of the city. I guess I could pop in town, but I'll save that for another day. I'm going to try to do a couple of weekends here too - the running is great on the lakefront and would be a perfect place to do some long runs. My ghosts here are fading, and I remember why I loved being here. I'm at a hotel off Skokie Blvd, and all I have to do is cross the street in front of the hotel, and I'm on a 2 mile sidewalk path through some neighborhoods. Forgot socks, but ran anyway, sweat dripping into my shoes, seams on the inside rubbing and feeling every step. I was grateful for the long, straight, flat path today as my body learned the route. No iPod, no distractions, just me, the road and the run.

Worked hard, but not the killer assignment I had before, and strangely no one seems too eager to hang out. It's a bit disconcerting, but I'm happier that I feel like I have choices (when can I eat, when can I leave, when can I work).

Peace out chillins.
