Stayed at my friend Malcom's place in Chelsea last night to dog sit for him. Up early, bagel and coffee, walked Asher, then set out for my run. West to the Westside Hwy, then north, running along the river, sun warm, running through the soccer fields, then up to 125th Street, a good healthy hill around 105th St. Turned and ran south, dodging bikes and dog walkers, feeling good. Stopped at the Runners Station south of Chelsea Piers just before the 2 hour mark for more body glide and a good swig of water. Kept going south, winding my way through the crowds down to the Battery. Suddenly Iooked up and the Statue of Liberty was right in front of me, looking close enough to touch. It was so beautiful. Running about 2 hours and 25 minutes at that point, so turned and headed north back to Chelsea Piers. at 2 hours 45 min, I started to lose steam. It would have been so great to have a running partner at that point. The thing it, pushing myself now will make it easier to push on race day. Made my way back to Mal's Chelsea apartment, my feet humming from the pounding, tired, happy, ready for a nap.
Big love babies.
